Micro & Nano plastics
Everything about water series
A 2024 study found microplastics in 100% of humans: particles were found in the liver, brain, and other organs.
That means exposure is not occasional — it’s continuous.

A 2018 study found that some water bottles contain more than 10,000 plastic micro-particles.

A newer 2024 PNAS/Columbia-Rutgers study found 240,000 plastic particles per bottle, with roughly 90% of them nanoplastics.

Particle Size Determines the Real Risk

  • Particles >150 µm → mostly pass through the body
  • Particles <20 µmcan cross the gut barrier
  • Particles in the micron & nano rangeenter tissues and bloodstream

Tastes different, but has even more nano plastics
A 2024 beverage study found the highest average microplastic concentration in industrial glass bottles.

Their summary says that the drinks in glass bottles are often 5 to 50 times higher than in plastic bottles or cans.

"Metal" caps shed nano-plastics, first at the factory, then during transportation, and then release 100'000 more when the consumer opens the bottle.
Tap water, on average, contains 20X less microplastics
